The Scenes courses not only strengthen your language skills but also deepen your connection to the culture of the places where these stories unfold.
Designed for intermediate learners (B1-B2) or those working on or progressing beyond Coffee Break Level 3, each course offers a variety of engaging elements to help you understand the language in context and take your learning to the next level.
Coffee Break Academy
You'll learn in our online platform, the Coffee Break Academy, which you can access on any web browser. Through your account on the Academy, you'll be able to work through the courses and track your progress as you complete each lesson.
Audio lessons
Take your learning on the go! Whether you're working out, driving, or walking the dog, you can immerse yourself in the language effortlessly. Each lesson features a chapter reading, followed by an insightful discussion between our presenters, helping you deepen your understanding as you listen.
Video version
Watch the story come to life with our video version, where you can read along as you listen. This is the perfect way to reinforce your learning: review the text after exploring the audio discussion and build a greater understanding of the language in context.
Lesson notes
Each lesson includes comprehensive lesson notes, featuring a full transcript of the language used, along with clear explanations and additional examples of key grammar and vocabulary from the discussion. Frequently asked questions
When does the course start and finish?
Scenes from the Coffee Break Café courses begin on 24th March 2025 and lessons will be added every Monday thereafter. There will be a break of one week between lesson 5 and 6, with lesson 6 being published on 5th May 2025. As each lesson is published, you'll be able to access the lesson in the learning system. The full Scenes course is made up of 10 lessons. Of course, you'll have lifetime access to the course and you can work through the materials at your own pace as they become available.
What level is Scenes?
The lessons are at a B1/B2 intermediate level. If you have been working on Coffee Break Level 3 courses or above then you should find the course to be at an appropriate level.
Which currency can I buy in?
Scenes from the Coffee Break Café courses are available to buy in £GBP and $USD. You can use any credit or debit card, Apple Pay and Google Pay. If purchased in $USD then PayPal is also available as an option.
Can I download the material for offline use?
We use streaming video for the video episodes in this course, but you can download the PDF documents and audio materials and store them on your device for handy reference to allow you to listen on the go.
Is there a free podcast?
The basic audio lessons of Scenes from the Coffee Break Café are available as a podcast in the main audio podcast feed for each language. Just search for Coffee Break French / Italian / German / Spanish wherever you get your podcasts.
